Ethereum devs up security efforts with new ‘Post-Quantum’ team

An Ethereum developers have created an infrastructure center that focuses on protecting the blockchain from future quantum computing threats and secure billions of dollars worth of value the network protects.

The organization’s new Post-Quantum Ethereum Foundation website, which was launched on Tuesday by members of the Ethereum foundation, says it is ‘going to implement quantum solutions into Ethereum at the protocol level by 2029 with solutions targeting the execution layer to follow.

Although the post-Quantum team has said there is no imminent quantum threat for cryptography-secured blockchains, early action must be taken because it’s complex “It’s not easy to know if any one will take an immediate step.

A group of members said ‘It takes years of coordination, engineering and formal verification to make such a decentralized, global protocol. The threat comes before the work begins well, . , ” and.

Concerns that quantum computers could eventually break blockchain cryptography have fueled industry-wide fear of private keys and wallet security, leading to more debate over how the sector should prepare as technology develops.

The majority of industry analysts agree that quantum computing is a bit of ‘crypto-hacking’ threat to crypto. All coins are at risk, according to Galaxy Digital analyst Will Owens, who has said only crypto wallets with exposed public keys are vulnerable.

Post-Quantum team building SNARK-based signatures

Many crypto developers are focused on how quantum-safe solutions can be implemented into cryptographic signatures to fight off potential attacks.

However, some solutions are more computationally intensive and could potentially impact blockchain performance by increasing bandwidth and storage.

The Post-Quantum team is integrating SNARK, or Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge technology, in an attempt to stop the Ethereum network from experiencing such issues.

Quantum solutions will be implemented into Ethereum’s consensus, execution and data layers, the team said.

Post-Quantum team said it would focus on protecting standard Ethereum wallets because it believes that’s where the biggest pool of value is, followed by high valued operational wallet tied to crypto exchanges, bridges and custody solutions.

It said that one of the biggest challenges will be to deploy these solutions without disrupting the network.

Choosing a post-quantum algorithm is only part of the challenge for s,> “It’s just one thing I can do to choose that way. Other hard-core components include safely upgrading hundreds of millions of accounts, preventing the migration from adding new bugs, eliminating new attack surfaces, maintaining performance andcoordinating ecosystem-wide adoption. – ’.
